The Hair Brush Guide

There are so many different kinds of brushes out there. You may be damaging your hair because you are using the wrong type of hair brush. I'll explain the uses of all the many brushes out there and which brush is best for your hair type. Before I start I'll give you Bre's 3 hair brush tips for beautiful hair. First, don't get brushes with little plastic balls on the bristle's because those are terrible for your hair. Second, Always splurge on brushes because cheap brushes are more damage which is more hair cuts and bad hair days. Last but not least, clean your brushes often because brushes absorb dirt and hair product and can make your hair oily and gross. If you have and questions feel free to comment below!

All in One Brush

This brush is a mixture of natural boar bristle and nylon. This brush gently detangles all hair types and also adds shine.

Paddle Brushes

The paddle brush is best for smoothing long straight hair. This brush is not ideal for layered hair because the brush will eliminate volume and just make your hair shiny and straight.
Paddle brushes are best for fine and thin hair but they can be used on all types.

Round Brushes

Round brushes are solely meant for styling. This brush is great for people with long layers and any hair type. The thermal round brushes have the metal barrel that help curl and add volume when blow-drying hair.

Flat Brushes

The flat brush is very similar to the paddle brush except the metal base will heat up when you blow dry and will ensure a precise straight hairstyle. This brush is best for straight hair to straight-wavy. This brush should NOT be used daily because this brush stresses and damages your hair because the heat retention of the brush.

Boar Bristle Brushes

Boar bristle brushes are natural and gentle on hair. They distribute hair oil evenly so hair will be balanced and soft to the touch. This brush is best for thick hair.

Teasing Comb

Teasing comb are pretty self explanatory. You can create volume with these combs by back brushing you hair. They damage and break your hair so use this brush in moderation!

Massage Brush

This brush is best to use after you have detangled your hair because the chucky bristles don't glide through tangles very well. These brushes stimulate the scalp and increase hair growth. They are often used to when shampooing and/ or distributing hair products.

Vented Brushes

These brushes speed up the blow drying processes and add texture and volume. These brushes are good for all hair types just remember not to use the brush with the plastic ball bristles.

Hope this helped clear up some confusion about all the brushes! Comment below what you think!! XOXO

Summer Makeup Bag Essentials

OMG it's already spring and before you know it summer will be here!! It's getting warmer so that means you need to switch out your creams and thick make up for something a bit lighter. Here are some of my favorite daily summer make up essentials.

Daily Moisturizer:
It's always best to moisturize your face just don't over due it. Stick with a light daily moisturizer with some SPF and you should be fine! I suggest Laura Mercier Oil-free Day Lotion $98  or for a cheaper alternative CeraVe Am Facial Moisturizer $14. If you have very oily skin then I suggest you don't wear lotion and foundation just use a oil absorbent primer.

Foundation:
Personally I usually don't even wear foundation during the summer because I usually just sweat it off by midday. If you don't wear foundation I would just swipe a little bronzer and conceal any blemishes. If you are going to wear foundation then I suggest a light bb cream, mineral powder or tinted moisturizer. Make sure your foundation has some SPF for extra protection. I suggest Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer $43 for a light tinted moisturizer. Clinique BB Cream $37s is a great bb cream for the summer I love it! For a natural light complexion I suggest Aveda Inner Light Mineral Tinted Moisturizer $28.

Concealer:
Again stick to the lighter formula and don't apply as much. Concealer is definitely a must have in the beauty bag because it is quick and easy. Sometimes when I'm running late or lazy I just dab a bit of conceal on blemishes and around the eyes and add a swipe of bronzer and then I'm out the door. I use Smash Box High Definition Concealer $22.

Mascara:
stick to a light formula preferable waterproof. In my personal opinion I like to have a really good water proof mascara for when I swim or go to the beach and I keep a mascara that is waterproof just enough to not run from sweat. I use Lancome Definicils Waterproof High Definition $27 and during the summer I get the brown shade to make my lashes look more natural.

Bronzer/Illuminator
This is basically your preference I usually like to use an illuminator instead of a bronzer to get a dewy glow look. I would stick to the light and translucent formulas. I would use the Tom Ford Skin Illuminator $65 or for a cheaper dupe buy the Benefit High Beam Complexion Enhancer $26. For a bronzer I would buy a Nars or Mac pigment bronzer.

Lip Products
For summer I also like to wear the light pink and pink toned nude colors. They make your tan pop and add to a dewy look. Some of my favorites are Benefit Lollitint Lip and Cheek Tint $30, NYX Matte Lipstick in Pale Pink $6 and Sara Happ The Lip Slip $24.

Eye Shadows
This is really a personal preference but during the summer shimmery pale colors are usually very trendy.

Hope you liked this post!! comment below what your favorite summer makeup product is!!

10 Makeup Tips Every Girl Needs to Know

These are some handy make up tips that have made my make up look so much better! Hope you enjoy! :)

1. Emphasize Your Brows

Keep your brow clean and trimmed up at all times and always fill in your brows. Use a shade lighter than your natural hair color for the front part of your brows and go in with a darker shade to define your brow arch. Also, don't forget to conceal around your brows and your eye lids. Make sure to add a shimmer highlight on the brow bone too. All of these tips make a huge difference in your make up look trust me!

2. Blot Your Foundation

Allow your foundation to soak in for 2 to 3 minutes, then take a Kleenex and blot away the excess foundation. This ensures a more natural and less cake like makeup. Your make up will also last a lot longer.

3. Comb Your Lashes with an Eyebrow Comb

to avoid clumps use an eye lash comb to comb your lashes after you apply mascara.

4. Don't Use Bronzer if You're Pale

If you are pale bronzer will just make it worse. Go for an illuminator cream or light powder to get a nice glow.

5. Use An Eye Cream

using an eye cream primes your eyes and makes concealer go on smoother. Eye cream will also reduce redness and bags. If your concealer creases often try mixing eye cream and concealer before application.

6. Prepare Your Lips for Lipstick

This will make your lipstick last a lot longer. You need to exfoliate your lips and then follow up with a hydrating lip cream or gel.

7. Use a White Base for Eye Shadow

This will make your eye shadow pop and make your shadow longer lasting.

8. Wash & Save Old Mascara Brushes

use mascara brushes to brush your brows or comb out clumps in your mascara.

9. Don't Over Moisturize

Over Moisturizing with make your make up smear and not last as long. Too much moisturizer will make your face oily and acne prone.

10. If Taking Pictures Don't Use a Foundation w/ SPF

SPF will protect your skin but in pictures SPF will make you look like a pale ghost.

Comment below what you think? or What's your best beauty tip? Thanks

Mascara Guide

There are so many mascaras out there. Here is a guide for which mascara is the best at what and how much they are. Along with my person reviews on each mascara.

Cheapest:

Maybelline Great Lash $4.75
This mascara is better if you are going for the more natural look. It gives absolutely no volume but it does give great length. I personally love using it because it doesn't look like you are wearing mascara, your lashes just look naturally long. This mascara dies out very quickly, you can only keep it for about a month or it will begin to get clumpy. This mascara is best for younger girls who are just starting to wear  up because it is light and cheap.

Lash Blast $8.49
This is a great mascara for volume. The formula is great and long lasting. The regular mascara is easy to remove but the water proof is very difficult to get off. This mascara does tend to weight down your lashes when you apply large amounts and layer the product on your lashes. The large brush with many flexible bristles ensures a clump free application and separate all of your lashes. The large brush makes it kind of difficult to coat your bottom lashes and may smudge at times.
Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara $4-5
This mascara is great for the price. The formula goes on smooth and is clump free. This mascara will make you lashes look voluminous and nature while perfectly coating every lash. The only downside is at times the mascara flakes, especially if you rub your eyes.
Loreal Voluminous Mascara $6.48
This mascara holds curls great and add extra length. They stay in place all day with no fall out or smudging. This mascara dries out very quickly and needs to be replaced monthly. The water proof version of this mascara is very strong and tends to remove lashes. This mascara makes your lashes look fake at time if you apply too much. If you are not into the big fake lashes look then this mascara isn't for you.
Maybelline Define A Lash $5.95
This mascara creates a lot of volume and length but if too much is applied then lashes clump. The brush is amazing for definition and is great to brush out clumps. The formula is very wet but if you let the product dry out a bit it is perfect. Overall this mascara is alright for the price.

Most Expensive:

Diorshow Iconic High Definition Lash Curler Mascara, $28.50
This mascara is amazing but I honestly don't think its worth the price. Don't get me wrong this mascara makes you lashes look flawless but not 30 dollar flawless. This mascara creates long and full lashes and stays on all day with no smudges. This mascara doesn't exactly create the natural look though.

Lancôme Hypnose, $27

Although this mascara may not be as good as Lancôme Definicils mascara it is still a really good one. The shape of the brush takes some time to get used to but it is so worth it. This mascara makes you lashes very voluminous and long with absolutely no clumps. This mascara makes my eyes look huge!
 Lancôme Definicils, $27
This is by far the best mascara out there. This has been rated the best mascara in many different magazines. This is my all time favorite mascara. You can go for the natural look and apply a small amount or for a more voluminous lashes apply more layers. This mascara makes your lashes clump free, long, and voluminous. The formula is brilliant and lasts for a long time. This mascara says on better than more water proof mascaras it is amazing.
Bobbi Brown "No Smudge" Mascara, $25
This mascara is great. This mascara create a very natural and subtle look. The only downside is the wet formula can be clumpy at times so you have to be carful. The waterproof version is very waterproof so you have to use makeup remover to remove it.
Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash, $23
This mascara is good but not much better than the regular drugstore mascaras. The formula is great not to wet or too dry but just right. This mascara is pretty basic and great for new makeup users. The only down side is you need several coats to get any volume. Overall I would say this mascara isn't really worth it.

I hope you all enjoyed this post!! Comment your favorite mascaras and reviews!! Thanks! XOXO

Those Weird Beauty Tricks That Actually Work!!!

Here are 20 beauty tricks that actually work!!!

1. Use lip balm as a highlighter around your eyes - stick to a natural product though. Lip gloss will clog your pores and be very sticky. I'd recommend Burt's Bees because its just a regular natural lip balm.

2. Put avocado on your hair for deep conditioning - This is a common one. I also heard that it helps to mix it with a little bit of olive oil, but only apply on the ends. Avoid the scalp so your hair doesn't get or look oily.

3. Using tooth paste to reduce acne - Apparently, tooth paste has some "drying effect on your skin." But it has to be PLAIN WHITE TOOTHPASTE (NO GELS) and only use it as a TEMPORARY TREATMENT!!!!!

4. Hemorrhoid Cream for Puffy Eyes - Its that trick that your mom tells you about and it actually works!!! Its full of anti-inflammatory agents that reduce puffy-ness.

5. Heating Up Your Eye Lash Curler - For bolder, curlier eyelashes, heat up your eyelash curler with a hair dryer for 5-8 seconds before curling them.

6. Pepto-Bismol Facial - It doesn't just help stomach aches, it also makes a great facial!!! It contains bismuth subsalicylate, which is commonly found in facial creams.

7. Freeze Your Eyeliner - To prevent your liner from crumbling, leave it in the freezer 15 minutes prior to applying your makeup. It should glide along effortlessly after that.

8. Fe - If you're feeling bloated, mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a half a glass of water and drink up!!! Within 30 minutes, the vinegar's enzymes with start to flush away the bloat.

9. Bigger Bolder Lashes - For bigger and better eyelashes, curl your eyelashes with a spoon!!! With the bowl-part facing upward, use your thumb to hold your lashes against the curve and turn upward.

10. Reduce Puffy Eyes - To reduce puffy-ness, put raw, peeled potatoes in half, and leave them on your eyes for 10 minutes. This will cool your eyes and the swelling will decrease.

These tips may sound odd, but I promise you, they actually work!!! Enjoy!!!

3. Lancome High Resolution Renewal Cream

I know this isn't actually a moisturizer but it is a great daily moisturizer. It soothes dry skin while fighting wrinkles. I love it because it never leaves your face oily and greasy. The product is just absorbed into your skin and it reduces the appearance of deep pores. It's also great because it has SPF 15 sunscreen to protect your skin from sunburn.

4. aveeno

All of the Aveeno lotions are pretty good and won't clog your pores but I personally love this one because I have mild acne. This moisturizer has salicylic acid to treat acne. This one will definitely keep your skin clear and your pores clean. This lotion can irritate skin if you put on dry skin, it is meant to be a daily moisturizer. If you don't have acne or you have very sensitive skin then I would recommend the Aveeno lotion with oatmeal enrichment or the Positively Radiate daily moisturizer from Aveeno.

5. Olive Oil

Olive Oil is a great moisturizer to soothe very dry and cracked skin. It is all natural so you now exactly what chemicals you are putting on your face. It will not irritate skin and it is a great exfoliator. It shouldn't clog your pores if you use a small amount.

This one is good for normal to oily skin people. This moisturizer soak into the skin and leaves you with a healthy and natural looking glow.

8. Kiss My Face Chinese Botanical Ultra Moisturizer

This Moisturizer is enriched with Chinese herbs to nourish and replenish your skin. It smells great and it is also very relaxing. You can almost feel your skin absorbing the lotion. It also make your skin so incredibly soft with out clogging your pores!

9. Clinique Super Defense

This moisturizer is better for people with really dry skin. I also recommend not using a lot because the cream is very thick. This lotion makes your skin look nourished and fresh when you use the right amount. It's also not exactly the best daily moisturizer but it is still a great moisturizer. It corrects your skin and the SPF 25 protects you from the sun.

10. Olay Definity

This lotion goes on very lightly and is never greasy. I personally think it is just as good as some of the highest dollar moisturizers like Lancôme and Clinique. It also correct dark spots and evens skin tone. This lotion also leaves you with an amazing glow that makes you look well rested.
